It's 11:30 at night. If I was 20 years old I think I would appreciate the party going on one floor from my room. The bar is kickin, the music is playing and the girls, they are screaming. What am I doing? Trying to sleep. I have two days in Istanbul, I'm 27, I do not want to drink the days away, I want to sight see. I am very unhappy at the fact there is a party going on 10 feet from my bed.

Stayed there with a group of students. We stayed in the jungle room with a group of 12 boys for a whole week and the room wasn't cleaned through the whole week, which was quite disgusting. The terrace bar is great, although some drinks weren't available when we asked for them. For example, they have a picture of Jack Daniels saying "Jack lives here" on the wall, however, when we asked for a Jack, they didn't have any. The breakfast is fine for the price, but not too fingerlicking good. Although I mentioned some negative aspects I am quite satisfied with the hostel.

I stayed at Cheers twice (6 nights initially, 1 more night on my way home) and sampled 2 dorms and a private room (due to availability when I booked). Location can't be beat - and the view of the Aya Sofia from the roof bar is simply fantastic. Beds were VERY comfortable in all rooms; linens were always clean. Dorms feel spacious and have nice lockers; female dorm has en-suite shower and shared toilet. Breakfast was great. The staff (Samet, Tariq, and everyone) made me feel very much at home. Bijou (the dog) was an added bonus! Thanks, guys. I hope to see you again on my next trip...

Since we arrived, we felt like being home, the guys who work there are really kind. Our room was really clean and confortable, we had a private room. Its really close and easy to make tourism, also a really safe place and nice. You have the view of Hagia Sophia from the terrace, a lovely dog jaja, and an amazing climate. I´ve been in a lot of hostels and hotels around the world, and for me this is one of the best ones.

It didnt work on Hostelworld.com, so voila: The cheers hostel is a lovely place for people who does not just want to sleep there but spent a little bit of their time:playing tavla or drinking raki on the terrasse, having a little talk or watching tv in the "living-room".We had a great time except our departure. We were supposed to take the shuttlebus to the airport, but it started 5minutes earlier-we didnt knew that you have to be 15 minutes ready before departure.so we missed it.we could get the money back but instead of a 50lira note we got a 5 Lira note.it was early in the morning, neither we nor the host were awake enough to realise it.Anyway, the hostel is really nice and relax, especially the crew and the privaterooms.

When I stumbled off the coach from Tehran to Istanbul at 5am - journey time 42 hours - I knew exactly where to go. Back to Cheers where I'd been just over a month before. It's the best hostel I've ever stayed in and every good thing the other reviews say is true. I was there at the end of April and beginning of June 2010, hopefully returning for two nights at the end of December on my way back to the Middle East - can't wait! Cheers! Ben

OH MAN was this place the best. Literally from the moment I saw Cheers I knew it would be the place "where everybody knows your name" (watch the American TV show:

The rooms exceeded all expectations I had.

The staff were funny, sociable, incredibly helpful and knew everyone's name upon arrival.

The hostel provided breakfast every morning, had a fridge, computers and everything you need and was closer to the main sights than most of the 5-star hotels.

And when I didn't think they could take it to the next level, they literally did when we went upstairs and I saw the view of Hagia Sofia from the terrace where you can chill and have a drink with new and old friends.

Definitely coming back and making sure my friends only go to Cheers when they stop in Istanbul.

Cheers!

Two thumbs up for Cheers. Excellent location. Great price. Very helpful staff (thank you Fatih!). Nice rooms. We stayed a few nights in the double room with private bathroom. They helped us with the tours, getting us taxis and finding accommodation in other areas. We really recommend it.
